Foot health is one of the most neglected aspects of aged care, and one of the most consequential. Thickened nails, foot pain, calluses and ill-fitting footwear affect balance, gait, mobility and falls risk. For people with diabetes, foot problems can escalate rapidly. Regular podiatry at home keeps feet healthy and keeps people moving safely, without the barrier of getting to a clinic.
What is Podiatry?
Home podiatry involves a qualified podiatrist visiting to assess and treat the full range of foot health needs, nail care (including thick or curved nails), skin conditions, diabetic foot assessment, circulation and sensation checks, and footwear evaluation. Treatment is delivered at home, making it accessible to clients who find travel difficult and ensuring nothing is left to deteriorate simply because a clinic appointment was too hard to arrange.
What's included
Who benefits from this service?
Podiatry is essential for clients with diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, anyone with foot pain, clients who cannot reach their own feet, and people with cognitive impairment unable to maintain foot care independently.
How it works
Initial assessment
The practitioner conducts a comprehensive in-home assessment, understanding your goals, current function and the specific challenges in your home environment.
Treatment or management plan
A tailored plan is developed with you, what we're working on, how we'll measure progress and how often we'll visit.
Regular sessions
