A video call with a grandchild. A telehealth appointment from the couch. Audiobooks on a Sunday afternoon. Technology can meaningfully expand what's possible for an older person, but the gap between the device sitting on the table and using it confidently can feel enormous. Wisteria's technology assistance is patient, practical and completely tailored to what the person actually wants to be able to do.
What is Technology Assistance?
Technology assistance involves a support worker spending time with the client to help them learn and feel genuinely confident with their devices and the services they enable. This is not a generic tutorial, it starts with what the client wants to achieve. Whether that's setting up video calls with family, navigating online banking, booking telehealth appointments, or simply getting comfortable with a new phone, we go at the client's pace and leave clear written instructions behind for reference.
What's included
Who benefits from this service?
Technology assistance is valuable for any older adult who wants to use technology more confidently, video calling family, accessing online services, or using assistive technology. Particularly impactful for socially isolated clients and those whose family members rely on video calling for regular contact.
How it works
Initial assessment
The practitioner conducts a comprehensive in-home assessment, understanding your goals, current function and the specific challenges in your home environment.
Treatment or management plan
A tailored plan is developed with you, what we're working on, how we'll measure progress and how often we'll visit.
Regular sessions
Scheduled visits for treatment or management, with exercises or strategies for between visits where appropriate.
Goal review and progress
Progress is reviewed regularly. When goals are achieved, we plan for maintaining gains independently or transitioning to a maintenance programme.
